LUMEN5

Lumen 5 es una nueva herramienta para la creación y edición de videos. En este caso, es de suma utilidad, para la producción de un video en base a un artículo ya publicado en la Web. Solo tendremos que crear una cuenta con nuestra dirección de e-mail y una contraseña. Luego, solo queda el ponerse a trabajar. La plataforma está diseñada de manera tal que nos tome entre 5 y 10 minutos el crear el total del video.

Para comenzar, seleccionaremos el link del artículo de nuestro interés, luego es el turno de elegir qué oraciones del texto formaran parte del video, también nos da la posibilidad de resaltar palabras y cambiar la fuente. Entonces, toca el turno de elegir imágenes para ilustrar nuestro video. La página cuenta con un banco de imágenes muy completo, pero además, nos brinda la posibilidad de subir nuestras propias imágenes. Otro banco muy interesante con el que cuenta, es el de música. Está clasificada por el tipo de ánimo que trasmite, así que solo queda el seleccionar y dar click en Continuar. El resultado final puede verse en diferentes tipos de resolución, dependiendo del plan contratado.

Finalmente, se nos envía un correo electrónico con el producto terminado, que podremos observar y elegir si bien, queremos subirlo a Facebook o queremos bajarlo a nuestro ordenador para postearlo en las muchas plataformas que nos permiten su publicación.

Infografías

Una forma muy práctica de conseguir el material necesario para montar un video instruccional, es la de extraer información de Infografías publicadas en la web. La oferta es muy amplia, por lo que tendremos que ser muy específicos en los motores de búsqueda, detallar lo más puntualmente posible qué es lo que estamos buscando, en qué idioma, si preferimos estadísticas, lineas de tiempo o un paso a paso, tal vez.

Lo interesante de las Infografías es el resumen de conceptos que contienen, las gráficas ligadas al texto y lo cuidada que puede llegar a ser su estética general, lo que de por sí estaría brindándonos ideas para el montaje de nuestro video, por ejemplo, la gama de colores a utilizar, el tipo de iconografía que mejor representa cada porción de texto informativo, etc.

Luego, ya con el texto extraído de la Infografía y una estética fuertemente orientada, solo nos quedaría añadir la narración, imágenes de calidad y si es de nuestro agrado, algo de música de fondo a nuestros videos. A continuación un ejemplo:

Presentation steps

Introduction

In any occupation, chances are you have been approached by your boss, at one time or another, to give a presentation. There are certainly ways to help alleviate the stress associated  with this traumatic event. There are actionable steps that will help you get through your presentation successfully and remain gainfully employed.

Step 1: Prepare your material

This is first because it should be. Nothing alleviates stress more than knowing, inside and out, what you are going to talk about. Doing the research, and gathering the information needed for the presentation, should be your number one priority.

Step 2: Create an outline

Some people like to write the whole presentation out first, which is fine. But, when you are ready to give the presentation, you should use index cards with bullet points, rather than a document that is completely written out. Chances are you are using overheads or Power Point to assist with the presentation. You may already have the bullet points on the slides , which makes it easier to speak to.

Step 3: Practice

Simply repeating the words over and over really helps you get over those nervous jitters about speaking out loud. One thing that you want to also do is time yourself. If you don’t have a stopwatch, there are online timers that you can use that will help you stay within the time allotted.

Step 4: Visualize Success

 

After practicing your presentation, visualize positive responses from your audience and your boss. See yourself speaking with confidence as you know the material are imparting important information to your audience. If you look giving a presentation as a positive event, rather than an ordeal, you may find that you might even enjoy the experience. Think of it as personal growth rather than a chore that you are dreading.

Step 5: Solicit Feedback

When you are ready to give the presentation, perform a dry run for your peers, if at all possible. Ask them for constructive criticism. You may be doing or saying something that takes away from the presentation, but you weren’t aware of this fact. maybe you were using the words «ah», «so», «you know» and «again» excessively.

Conclusion

We all know  it can be difficult giving a presentation. But if you follow the steps outlined here you just might find that this dreaded, anxiety-ridden, task can end up being a positive, fulfilling, and gratifyin  experience of personal growth.

En la enseñanza del Inglés como segunda lengua, son de vital importancia los «textos» que podamos proveer a nuestros alumnos, ya sean: Cuentos, artículos periodísticos, encuestas, etc. ¿Cómo relacionarlos con las nuevas tecnologías? Pues, un muy buen ejemplo es volviéndolos interactivos.

Hoy contamos con el software necesario para convertir los archivos redactados en un procesador de textos al formato PDF. Este a su vez puede ser leído por un software que nos permita, además de leerlos, resaltarlos, hacer comentarios, etc.

Pero cómo explica el profesor cuales serían los pasos a seguir para conseguir resultados óptimos del trabajo con el texto? Pues bien, una forma divertida y motivadora, tanto para el profesor como para el alumno, son los Screencasts: capturas de la pantalla de su PC en forma de video. Son de gran utilidad para explicar un paso a paso, en ellos podemos utilizar nuestra propia voz  para narrar los puntos  que queramos resaltar o simplemente agregar comentarios en forma de texto. También podemos agregarles música, al estilo banda sonora de nuestras obras. Pero para ello necesitaremos saber algo de edición de videos.

Windows Movie Maker: Con esta aplicación podemos editar videos;  agregarles música, imágenes, transiciones, efectos, etc. y exportar el archivo en una variedad de formatos.

Grabar Audio con la PC

 

Unas de las mejores estrategias de aprendizaje de cualquier idioma, ya sea en el aula o en un ambiente virtual, es la grabación de audio. Con esta herramienta podemos crear podcasts informativos o bien, por ejemplo, un grupo de alumnos puede grabarse manteniendo una conversación en la lengua que está aprendiendo. Lo único que necesitamos es nuestra PC y un micrófono, también podemos trabajar con nuestros teléfonos celulares. El resto depende de las exigencias que tengamos como usuarios del software de grabación y queda a criterio de los conocimientos que tengamos sobre sonido y grabación.  Existen a nuestra disposición programas de los más simples para incursionar en esta técnica, hasta los más sofisticados para los usuarios exigentes. Lo importante es poner manos a la obra y sobre todo DIVERTIRSE utilizando una herramienta más de las que disponemos para enriquecer nuestra experiencia educativa.
